A new EP, The Snow.
Celebrating the joy of the winter season and support from a Royal Philharmonic Society Award, Marici Saxes’ EP The Snow features music by English composer Edward Elgar, with folk-influenced colours by Ukrainian Mykola Leontovych and a tune from the Shetland Islands to bring a wintery feel to your homes this Christmas. Released mid-December 2021 on Saxophone Records.
As we move into a new decade, Marici Saxes are celebrating 10 years together. Four unique musicians brought together through a craving for collective creativity and now establishing a firm reputation for excellence. Their innovative approach to music has seen their popularity rise and resonate with audiences throughout the UK and beyond since the release of their debut album Light. How better to mark this milestone than with a new album of beautiful music from around the globe.
Origin features works by English award-winning composers Michael Nyman, James Whitbourn and Peter Maxwell Davies. The album wouldn’t be complete without a new composition by baritone sax player Josie Simmons. They have also sourced and arranged some beautiful folk music from Scotland, Native America, the Balkans and China.
Marici Saxes’ debut album Light was released September 2017. Brimming with life and energy, this eclectic album of classical standards, folk and rare musical gems will redefine everything you thought you knew about the saxophone. Music includes film music, original works and classics from Faure, Rachmaninov, Piazzolla and Jenkins.
